97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade brings an extra serving of holiday sweetness
As the turkey hits the oven, the screen welcomes viewers with the holiday tradition. The 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is back and sweeter than ever. With a bevy of food and travel related balloons and floats, the annual event has everyone hungry for another serving of holiday sweetness.
According to theparade organizers, 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade features “25 balloons, six balloonicles (a portmanteau of balloon and vehicle) and 31 floats.” In addition, there is a wide array of well-known performers on those floats as well as bands and other talented groups from around the nation.
While well-known characters soar between the buildings in New York City, some of the special offerings are food and travel related icons that fill people’s holiday traditions. For example, the Pillsbury Doughboy is back, but he has a new look. Maybe Poppin’ Fresh’s new look will inspire a new take on some of those hot and fresh items on the table.
For the first time Brach’s is joining the 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. America’s #1 Seasonal Sugar Brand has transformed a traditional gingerbread house into a 30-foot sugary fantasy. It could inspire an even bigger treat on the home holiday table.
Speaking to this new float, Katie Duffy, Vice President and General Manager, Seasonal, BRACH’S, “BRACH’S has always strived to go above and beyond in helping families commemorate celebrations each season, and what better way to do so than becoming a part of the nation’s most beloved holiday event: the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. We’re honored to have the legacy of our sweet treats come to life within such aniconic moment that fans look forward to every holiday season–just like BRACH’S–and for the brand’s first time.”
In addition to the new Palace of Sweets by Brach’s, Solo Stove is offering Igniting Memories. This cozy campfire scene will have many people thinking about those childhood memories.
Another float offering a sweet fantasy world is The Deliciously Delectable World of Wonka by Warner Bros. Pictures. Although this float might not have everything edible on board, the vibrantly colored confectionery world gives everyone a glimpse of what they can expect in the new movie.
Other returning food and travel favorites include Big Turkey Spectacular by Jennie-O, Celebration Gator by Louisiana Office of Tourism, Fantasy Chocolate Factory by Kinder, Magic Meets The Sea by Disney Cruise Line, and The Wondership by Wonder.
The 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs on NBC and streams on Peacock Thursday, November 23 starting at 8:30 a.m.
