As summer fun heats up, everyone is thirsty for a new type of summer refreshment. From backyard parties to epic adventures, everything is better with some food and beverages. To kick off the summer of refreshment, Mountain Dew has two offerings to try.
The Dew Nation is a loyal group. That refreshed logo captures the true adventurous, outdoor inspired vibe of the original tickle your innards beverage. While the classic citrus flavor always satisfies, people thirst for new, innovative, or just fun options.
This summer, Mountain Dew is offering two flavors, new Mountain Dew Dragon Fruit and returning Mountain Dew Summer Freeze. While both beverages are vibrantly colored, it is the bold flavors that will get people running to get an extra serving.
First, the Mountain Dew Dragon Fruit adds a touch of exotic to the classic citrus flavor. Dragon fruit has an inherent sweetness, but it does not go too far towards the sugary side. In a way, the flavor brings a more balanced taste versus some of the other fruit forward flavors from the past. Unlike Mountain Dew Melon or even the Purple Thunder, which could get a little cloying, the passion fruit has just a hint of tart.

Although dragon fruit might not be as exotic as a few years ago, the fuchsia colored fruit with its soft center is an approachable taste of the tropics. Mountain Dew is smart to use this fruit versus pineapple, which has become oversaturated in the beverage space.
The Mountain Dew Dragon Fruit is a Walmart exclusive. The single-outlet offering will entice Dew Nation to make a special trip. Although this beverage would have been a smart collaboration for a movie takeover or even a Taco Bell menu collaboration, the Walmart exclusive gives the limited-edition beverage a larger audience. Maybe it is time to grab a 12-pack for that Friday night movie marathon.
The Mountain Dew Dragon Fruit will hit Walmart shelves on June 15. The flavor will be sold in 12-packs and 20-oz bottles.
A summertime classic back for the summer. Mountain Dew Summer Freeze brings that red, white, and blue patriotism to any event. For those people who may not remember this flavor, it is inspired by the classic, red, white and blue frozen treat. Luckily, for this option, there is no worrying about a frozen pop melting too quickly in the heat.
When Summer Freeze launched, it was well received. It was more than the blue color that popped in the cooler for Fourth of July. People loved that flavor. Whether it was enjoyed with classic American fare, like burgers or hot dogs, or just enjoyed with a bowl of popcorn while watching fireworks, there were plenty of bottles opened.
While this beverage captures that “newstalgia” food and beverage trend, it would have been nice for Mountain Dew to bring back its “shark” inspired, blue colored beverage from a few years back. Given the summer heat, everyone could use a little cool refreshment.
Mountain Dew Summer Freeze will be available nationwide starting on June 15, 2025. It will be sold in 20 oz bottles and 12-packs.
