From the smile on the can to the cute sayings, the popular PepsiCo sparkling water changed the conversation about simple, effervescent hydration. With the new bubly burst, the fruit forward beverage has similarities to the classic sparkling water but is uniquely all its own.

Predicting beverage trends can be more difficult than filling out the perfect basketball bracket. Recently, lower calorie or zero sugar options seem to be the focus of the food and beverage conversation. Without compromising on the classic flavor that people know and love, consumers would prefer to avoid drinking a significant portion of the daily calorie intake. The Zero Sugar category fits into those lifestyle choices.

At the same time, hydration continues to be a focus in the beverage industry. From electrolyte waters to sports drinks, it is more than the hydration benefit that gets consumers to choose one bottle over another. It comes down to the appealing taste. Sometimes a little carbonation can make that flavor more palatable.

Sparkling water has become a popular beverage category not just for people wanting to drink more water, but also for the versatility that the beverage offers. From a burst of bubbles in a mocktail to stretching a sugary drink, many people always have a can chilled in the refrigerator.

For PepsiCo, the bubly brand has been hugely successful. From collaborations with famous singers to a wide range of flavors, the beverage brand continues to resonate with its audience. According to the company, bubly is the number one most preferred sparkling water brand. Since consumers are gravitating towards those smiling cans, it is time to get them to open another bottle, as well.

Speaking to the launch of bubly burst, Todd Kaplan, Chief Marketing Officer, Pepsi and Sparking Water said, “As the category has become more mainstream, new consumers are coming into the space looking for solutions that have a stronger and slightly sweeter taste than a typical sparkling water, while maintaining many of the same credentials that the sparkling water category is known for today.  That is what bubly burst is bringing to the table – sparkling water with a delicious burst of fruit flavor, all brought about in a way that only the bubly brand can.”

What makes bubly burst a must try?

Launching with six flavors, bubly burst is available in Triple Berry, Peach Mango, Watermelon Lime, Pineapple Tangerine, Cherry Lemonade and Tropical Punch. As seen by the initial beverages, the flavors are fruit forward but blend familiar with a hint of playfulness.

While options like Triple Berry and Tropical Punch are familiar and classics, it is the slightly curious combinations that have people excited for that first taste. For example, Pineapple Tangerine is a fun option for citrus combination that is a little sweeter. Also, the Peach Mango brings an extra juiciness to the tropical flavor.

In addition, a few of the flavors lean into the nostalgia trend that continues to flavor new food and beverage offerings. Cherry Lemonade is a summertime classic that has an extra kick of whimsy. Just seeing the bottle might conjure some images of summer time barbecues.

Lastly, it seems that PepsiCo might be offering a subtle nod to the mocktail space. Many of these flavors can easily be elevated with other elements. From a juicy fruit garnish to bringing a bolder choice like a splash of herbal notes or spice, there are plenty of ways to turn a simple pour into a sophisticated drinking experience.

The new bubly burst has zero added sugar and minimal calories. Each bottle continues the bubly brand’s fun vibe with cute sayings and eye catching packaging.
