McDonald’s brings the spice with a new Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy
There is another cluck in the QSR chicken wars. McDonald’s added a new Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy and the first bite has people hungry for more.
Chicken, both chicken sandwiches and chicken nuggets, have taken over quick service restaurant menus. Since that plain chicken breast might be a clean slate for big, bold flavors, it makes sense that one ingredient can be served a variety of ways.
In the latest battle in the chicken sandwich wars, McDonald’s just launched the Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy. The sandwich starts with its Southern Style Chicken, slathers it with spicy Cajun ranch sauce, then tops it with bacon and pickles. Served on a potato bun, it sounds like a dish served from grandma’s kitchen. A deluxe option is available with Roma tomatoes and lettuce.
The combination of the spicy Cajun ranch and the bacon is a smart choice for McDonald’s. Even though other QSR brands have embraced the swicy trend, spicy ranch has a large audience. Ranch is, and will always be, a popular condiment. Adding a touch of heat to the mix makes it different without going too far outside of the bun.
Speaking of the bun, the potato bun option is smart. Using a brioche style bun would have too many rich, heavy flavors stacked together. The soft texture allows all that spicy ranch to flavor each and every bite.
Plus, the crinkle cut pickles are a nice touch for the sandwich. That texture helps to keep the pickle intact, which makes for a more complete bite. Sometimes it is the little details that make the difference.
Adding this new chicken sandwich ahead of the summer months is smart for McDonald’s. That quick, easy meal on the way to a game or after a day at the beach can be the perfect bite. Served with an order of those World Famous Fries makes for a complete meal.
The Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy and the Deluxe Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy are available at participating restaurants starting April 22. Check with each location for pricing and availability.
