Molly Sims balances delicious with nutritious in her holiday traditions, interview
Sometimes, the holiday season can be full of over-indulgence. For Molly Sims, she has found a few ways to bring a little healthy eating balance to all that deliciousness. More importantly, the ingredient swap has a lot of versatility in the kitchen.
While eating more fruits and vegetables may often be front of mind, protein rich foods are equally important. Finding simple, easy, adaptable ways to boost that protein intake can make life easier.
ISOPURE Whey Protein Isolate Unflavored can be one of those versatile ingredients that is more than the protein shake after a workout. From a scoop used in a cookie recipe to that eggnog latte, there are many ways to add a little extra protein to the indulgence.
Recently, FoodSided spoke to Molly Sims, Isopure Spokesperson, about how she uses the product to bring a little protein boost to her holiday traditions.
Cristine Struble: Holiday baking is often a priority, but can those favorite treats have a little extra nutritional boost? Is it important in your household to have balance by having a treat that still has a little extra protein or nutrients in it?
Molly Sims: This year I wanted to be intentional with all my cooking and baking – ensuring I was balancing delicious with nutritious! One of my favorite hacks this season is incorporating Isopure Whey Protein Isolate Unflavored into a few of my favorite recipes for a sneaky way to get extra protein. And that’s the best part, it’s unflavored so you can enjoy your favorite holiday recipes without compromising taste while hitting your protein goals. It’s a win-win.
CS: Are there some traditional dishes or recipes that are always part of your family's holiday celebrations?
MS: Yes, and this year I put a protein twist on one of my all-time favorites - Big Momma’s famous holiday butter cookies! The “secret” ingredient is Isopure Whey Protein Isolate Unflavored that includes 25 grams of protein per scoop and 2 ingredients. My mom always used to make these during the holidays, and the holidays never feel quite complete without these on the treats table. It’s a special way for me to keep her magic alive.
CS: Are there some holiday traditions or events that you cherished growing up that you do with your children? How important is it to make fun, joy and merriment a priority for the whole family?
MS: Absolutely! My family and I make it a big event when it’s time to decorate the tree. We love to go to the local Christmas tree lot, pick out a tree (usually it’s Grey choosing), and then plan a night for us to decorate with hot cocoa and our favorite holiday pajamas. It’s truly the best time because it’s just us five laughing and being together. Another holiday tradition I love is Elf on the Shelf. Yes, it can be a lot to do every day, however I have found such enjoyment over the years in thinking of funny and creative ideas to surprise the kids with. This holiday season we had the elves swinging from the overhead lights as trapeze artists and I think this is one of my favorites yet! It is so important to make this time of year extra special for the whole family because these are the memories that they will have forever and tell their children one day. It’s these special times that make the biggest impact as they get older.
CS: During the holiday season, many people can get overwhelmed by the hectic pace. Do you have any tips to stay energized? Is it important to schedule some downtime on the calendar?
MS: Never lose sight of allowing some “you” time during the holidays. Your mental health is your best asset this time of year to ensure you can handle the chaos without getting too overwhelmed. Personally, I find a quick 20-minute brisk walk outside does the trick. The perfect amount of alone time where I don’t have to answer emails or hear another “mom, mom, mom” every five minutes. Also, I love to dedicate time to dry brushing. After I dry brush, I instantly feel energized which sometimes is just the pick me up I needed.
CS: As the year comes to a close, people take stock of their routines and choices. Do you have some suggestions or some simple ideas that can help boost their health and wellness routines to kick off the new year?
MS: I really have been loving my health and wellness routine as of late and I’m excited to keep it up in the new year. Part of my everyday routine is making sure I am hitting my daily protein goals – ensuring I am keeping my bones strong and living my best-balanced life. One product I’ve really been loving is Isopure’s Whey Protein Isolate Unflavored because it blends seamlessly into anything from smoothies to baking. It allows me to meet those protein goals with ease and I can’t even taste it in my favorite meals.
I also believe in investing in your skincare routine because what you put on your skin is just important as what you put in your body. I have been loving my powerhouse nighttime routine, YSE Beauty Last Call Retinol Serum and YSE Beauty The Problem Solver Brightening Treatment, for maintaining a bright and even complexion especially now in the Winter when I can focus on trying to get rid of those stubborn dark spots.
I also think it’s important to set a schedule and hold yourself accountable. Pre-pack your snacks, don’t cancel that workout class again, set an alarm, drink more water etc. The only person who can be in control of a health and wellness routine is yourself and if you want it to work and notice a difference then you have to be consistent and take charge.
Everyone can take charge of their routine. Balanced food choices are within reach. Ready to add a little protein boost to those choices?
