As the summer countdown begins, everyone starts to prepare for BBQ season. Pepsi and Bobby Flay have lit the grill and chilled two new beverages, Pepsi Lime and Pepsi Peach, that will pair perfectly with all the food that has been kissed by the flame.
Pepsi has gone all in with its “Better with Pepsi” campaign. Whether it is a chicken wings, dessert, or even condiments, the caramel notes in the classic cola can pair with any and every food. It is one of the reasons why the beverage brand has leaned into this flavor versatility concept. If one beverage can do it all, there are plenty of reasons to keep it stocked in the refrigerator.
To kick off summer grilling, Pepsi has partnered with Bobby Flay to highlight two new beverage flavors that might become the must have refreshment of the season. While many people grew up watching Flay handle the tongs on his rooftop during the Boy Meets Grill days, the celebrated chef appreciates that a great barbecue and beverage pairing can make the experience more satisfying.
Speaking about this Pepsi partnership, Flay said, “When it comes to barbecue, the right beverage can truly elevate the experience. Pepsi, with its complex flavor profile, is the perfect counterpoint to the smoky, rich barbecue dishes that have been such a staple of my culinary journey. Whether you're enjoying fall-off-the-bone ribs, juicy burgers, or perfectly smoked brisket, Pepsi makes each bite pop for a truly memorable meal. Grilling and Pepsi go hand-in-hand as summer staples and I am as excited as anyone to explore the possibilities that Pepsi Lime and Pepsi Peach bring to the table this season."
Pepsi launches two new flavors, Pepsi Lime and Pepsi Peach, ahead of summer grilling season
While Bobby Flay might make mastering the flame look effortless, Pepsi believes that its new summer flavors, Pepsi Lime and Pepsi Peach, will make the food taste even better. From a touch zesty to a little juicy, the fruity notes contrast the char, spice, and smoke that is often associated with grilled food.
As Jenny Danzi, Senior Director, Pepsi TM said, “Since 2021, we have time and time again demonstrated that Food is Better With Pepsi. Now, Bobby Flay, the legendary grill master himself, is proving to America that the summer gatherings are indeed Better With Pepsi, no matter what is thrown on a grill for a backyard BBQ. We cannot wait to see how fans enjoy our two new limited-edition colas and look forward to bringing the best vibes with Bobby Flay on our side, all season long.”
First, Pepsi Lime seems like the perfect choice for summer entertaining. While the beverage brand previously showed in a campaign that classic cola forward cocktails should highlight Pepsi, the reality is that a touch of citrus with the cola is quite enjoyable. The hint of acid brightens the overall flavor and makes for a more rounded taste.
Just like a squeeze of lime makes tacos pop or can make grilled corn even sweeter, the citrus note in the Pepsi makes it even more refreshing. Although Pepsi Lime is just a limited time, summer option, many people might petition to have it become a permanent beverage. It might be a nice contrast to the Pepsi Mango.
The Pepsi Peach is a slightly more curious offering. While peach is a summertime staple, the juicy stone fruit is not often highlighted in beverage form.
But, peach and barbecue are a classic food pairing. From a flavor in a homemade BBQ sauce to the perfect cobbler to end the meal, it is a favorite.
More importantly, peach pairs well with herbs. While Pepsi Peach would be great with a barbecue chicken or ribs, it would be equally satisfying with a Green Goddess salad or even a herb forward pasta dish.
The limited time summer beverages, Pepsi Lime and Pepsi Peach, will be available in 12 oz cans and 20 oz bottles. Check with the beverage brand’s website for availability.
The Pepsi and Bobby Flay partnership will be featured throughout the summer. Exclusive Flay recipes will be available online at BetterWithPepsi.com as well as being featured on social media.
Everyone is encouraged to experiment with their own food creations, too. It might not be like competing on Beat Bobby Flay but everyone can meet a grill this summer and be inspired by these new Pepsi flavors.
