Subway Sidekicks are the ultimate footlong menu pairing
While many people might have their preferred Subway footlong order, that food can be even more enjoyable when served with a side. The new Subway Sidekicks are three menu items that will have everyone running for the first taste.
Recently, Subway has been focused on revitalizing its menu. From offering new bread options to redesigning some of the favorite subs, the multi-year process not only solidified its fan base but reintroduced the quick service restaurant to a new group of guests.
At the core of the Subway brand is the footlong. Although the sub can be a big bite for some, the food item is forever a symbol of the brand. While those subs will always be a signature, expanding it into a side menu pairing is not only smart, but it could get people to make a special visit.
The new Subway Sidekicks are three menu items, Cinnabon Footlong Churro, Auntie Anne’s Footlong Pretzel, and Footlong Cookie. The combination of an in-house offering and pairing with other favorite food brands makes this announcement exciting for everyone involved.
As Douglas Fry, President of Subway North America said, “The introduction of Sidekicks builds on six decades of equity and expertise in all things footlong. This whole new category on our menu offers Subway fans something they can’t get anywhere else and kicks off a year of culinary innovation and delicious new menu items. 2024 may be the most exciting chapter yet in our growth story.”
What can guests expect with the new Subway Sidekicks?
Looking at the Subway Sidekicks menu, the three food options, Cinnabon Footlong Churro, Auntie Anne’s Footlong Pretzel, and Footlong Cookie change the conversation completely. In some ways, a few guests might skip the choices as a “side” and make a special visit just for the treats.
The Footlong Cookie has been a part of Subway’s National Cookie Day offerings. While those limited time items were extremely well received and the chocolate chip cookie is a favorite on the menu, the larger dessert will become a must try. Although not shared by Subway, it could lead to some creative menu hacks. Maybe a Footlong Cookie sandwich stuffed with Nutella could be next.
The Cinnabon Footlong Churro brings the classic theme park treat to a wider audience. Even though Cinnabon just announced the return of its Churro Chillatta, people cannot get enough of that handheld treat. Whether it is the Makara cinnamon or the sugary bite, people crave that warm treat.
Lastly, the Auntie Anne’s Footlong Pretzel is an easy to eat version of the classic pretzel. Dipping the bready delight into Subway’s Honey Mustard is easy. Although some people might prefer a cheese sauce, it will be a nice pairing with many of the subs.
The Subway Sidekicks will join the menu on January 22. The Footlong Cookie is $5, the Cinnabon Footlong Churro is $2, and the Auntie Anne’s Footlong Pretzel is $3.
