What started as an icon is ready to soar towards the stars and become a legend. The third ship in Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class has been revealed. Legend of the Seas continues the cruise brand’s story of creating monumental vacations for all ages.

When Icon of the Seas launched, the highly anticipated ship took everyone’s breath away. It was more than the impressive size which allowed the brand to create thematic neighborhoods throughout the ship. It was the attention to detail woven into every experience.

From strolling Central Park before dinner to waking up early to be the first person to experience Category 6, walking from bow to stern and from deck to deck takes the guests on an adventure. High energy coupled with quiet moments gives everyone the opportunity to create their ultimate Royal Caribbean vacation experience.

Ahead of Star of the Seas debuting in August 2025, Royal Caribbean announced that its third Icon Class shipped will be named Legend of the Seas. That particular descriptor sets the tone not only for the guests’ experiences, but also raises the bar for Royal Caribbean to exceed its own high expectations.

According to Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International, “On the heels of celebrating one year of the record-breaking Icon Class and the memories made by vacationers of all ages on Icon, we are thrilled to announce the name of Royal Caribbean’s third Icon Class vacation. Legend of the Seas is the next bold step in this exciting era of vacations and the continuation of the Icon Class legacy, and we look forward to bringing the revolutionary lineup of experiences to more families and adventurers across Europe, the Caribbean and beyond.”

Since Legend of the Seas will be the third ship in the Icon Class, there could be some modifications to the on board experiences. Although the company did not release or speculate on any changes, the third ship can see some guest feedback combined with innovation. Maybe the Swim and Tonic swim up bar will be a smidge bigger on this ship.

Guests will see the return of many of the highly praised experiences, like the family friendly Surfside neighborhood as well as the Crown’s Edge, which many guests cannot wait to brave. Plus, adults can escape to Hideaway where the suspended infinity pool offers an epic view.

Additionally, the food and beverage options on an Icon Class ship cover every craving. From specialty themed cocktails at the numerous bars to elevated dining experiences, guests need to bring their appetite to experience it all.

Given the continued growth in cruise vacations, the Icon Class appeals to the group getaway. Whether it is the multi-generational family celebrating a significant event or the college reunion that is spent recalling memories, the diversity of on board experiences ensures that guests can have both group and alone time during that vacation.

Currently, Legend of the Seas is set to debut in August 2026. Itineraries will begin with 7-night Western Mediterranean vacations from Barcelona. Then, the ship will head to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in November 2026 with 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean vacations.
