The new Strawberry Mangonada Slush is a great example of infusing a favorite, refreshing Mexican beverage with a fruit flavor that has wide reaching appeal. The combination of strawberry, mango, and Tajin might not be the most common pairing, but the resulting flavor will have people ordering over and over.
As Mackenzie Gibson, Vice President of Culinary and Menu Innovation at Sonic explained, “We’re always looking to bring excitement to our fans with refreshing, craveable and unexpected drinks, and by partnering with Tajín to add their signature seasoning flavor to the Strawberry Mangonada Slush, we’ve done just that. By combining the juicy sweetness of strawberries and mango with a hint of zesty lime from Tajín Clásico, we’ve taken classic summer fruit flavors and kicked them up a notch.”
According to Sonic, the beverage features, strawberries, mangonada syrup, and a sprinkle of Tajin. Before the spice adverse put their hands up as a hard pass, the Tajin is not overwhelming. For example, the cup’s rim or side is not drenched in the spicy seasoning. This flavor is more of an accent versus a total takeover.
More importantly, the idea of strawberry and mango is a combination that deserves a moment to savor. Strawberry is often paired with kiwi or even pineapple. The tropical mango is a little more tangy while still bringing an underlying sweetness. It makes the strawberry feel even juicier.
The new Strawberry Mangonada Slush will be available starting on March 3, 2025. A medium size has a suggested price of $2.99, but check with restaurants for availability and pricing. The new flavor is available for a limited time, while supplies last.
