Latte Lovers Pancakes, eat your morning cup of java

Coffee and pancakes are a classic morning combination. IHOP’s new Latte Lovers Pancakes are the new way to eat your morning cup of java.

IHOP introduces another twist on its famous pancakes. New for the fall are Latte Lovers Pancakes. These latte inspired flavors will have coffee fans lining up at the pancake house. From classic coffee combinations to fall favorites, these coffee inspired pancakes are a coffee lovers’ dream.

According to IHOP, the four new Latte Lovers Pancakes are:

"• Espresso Mocha Cream – Chocolate pancakes layered with rich mocha cream and topped with chocolate-covered espresso beans• Salted Caramel Java – Buttermilk pancakes topped with real coffee bean-infused butter and a drizzle of velvety, salted caramel• Double Vanilla – Buttermilk pancakes topped with vanilla bean cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream• Pumpkin Spice –An annual favorite, pumpkin pancakes made with real pumpkin and spices crowned with a creamy whipped topping"

Truthfully, these pancakes seem more like dessert than breakfast. While I understand that whipped cream is similar to ice cream, I usually don’t have ice cream for breakfast. Of course, the calories in latte can be as much as a bowl of ice cream, people don’t think about that scenario.

Of course, pumpkin spice pancakes are a given in the fall. What food doesn’t have a pumpkin spice twist? Still, a twist or an addition to the pumpkin spice would have been nice. Some walnuts or even raisins could make the fall pancake a little more special.

The winner of these four options is hands down the Salted Caramel Java. The combination of bitter, sweet and salty is a great one. Since the pancakes are already coffee flavored, a big glass of milk could compliment these pancakes quite well.

These Latte Lovers Pancakes are just another example of IHOP expanding its limited time menus. From stuffed French Toast to the upcoming annual Scary Face Pancakes for Halloween, the limited time menus often bring in more guests.

Sometimes, these limited time menus can be a good test run for new flavors. No restaurant wants to launch a new dish without knowing that it will be successful. While these exact pancakes may not make IHOP’s permanent menu, a variation of these pancakes could.

The Latte Lovers Pancakes are available at participating IHOPS from September 25 through November 12.
