Recently, I had the opportunity to try both the Mac n’ Cheetos Creamy Cheddar Mac & Cheese and Mac n’ Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Mac & Cheese Snacks. These mac n’ cheese bites make a decent appetizer. While my kids would probably have an entire package for dinner, these snacks make a good appetizer. From snacking while watching the game to a potluck, the snacks are quite filling and tasty.
The mac n’ cheese itself is creamy and cheesy. The pasta is tender but not mushy. The right texture is part of the success to these snacks.

What sets these mac n’ cheese bites apart from other brands is the Cheetos covering. While the shape itself is clever, the flavor is the deciding factor for Cheetos fans. Does that iconic Cheetos flavor come through?
If I were to choose one of these snacks, I pick the Flamin’ hot version. While it doesn’t have as intense heat as the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos in a bag, the more subtle burn is flavorful. The heat comes at the end of the bite, which makes eating just one or two snacks impossible. I kept going back to grab another until the plate was empty.

The regular Cheetos version is better for the kids. My kids thought that these snacks tasted like their favorite Cheetos. The only thing missing was the orange fingers after eating a plate full. While their fingers had a slight orange hue, the tell-tale Cheetos fingers weren’t extreme. As a parent, the lack of Cheetos fingers was a definite win for me.
While I enjoyed these mac n’ cheese snacks, I wanted a little more crunch. Next time that I cook them, I might change the pan or distance from the oven heat source. While the snacks were crunchy, I wanted the Cheetos crunch to be even more. But, I’m being picky. Overall, I would definitely serve these snacks again.
