Just in time for the holiday season, winemaker Lot18 has released four Saturday Night Live wines. These four wines are inspired by the show itself and three favorite characters. The three characters with their own wine are Stefon, Debbie Downer and The Californians. Are you ready to open a bottle while watching an episode of Saturday Night Live?

The four Saturday Night Live wines are 2016 Saturday Night Live California Red Blend, 2016 Stefon Beaujolais, 2016 Debbie Downer South Eastern Australia Chardonnay, and 2015 The Californians Monterey County Merlot. These four wines have certain characteristics that reflect their namesakes.
The 2016 Stefon Beaujolais is a fruit forward, light bodied wine. While the wine is quite flavorful, it doesn’t take itself too seriously, just like Stefon. Also, a Beaujolais is quite versatile. A medium bodied wine, this wine could be enjoyed in many settings. Whether served with a cheese plate appetizer or a roasted chicken dinner, the wine is adaptable.
The 2016 Debbie Downer South Easter Australian Chardonnay is definitely not a dampener to anyone’s spirits. An oaky chardonnay, a slightly nutty flavor is present in this chardonnay. Like its namesake, this Debbie Downer Chardonnay does have typical citrus flavors from Australian wines. With its citrus notes, a lemon forward dish, could make a lovely pairing. Are you ready to turn that Debbie Downer face upside down with this Saturday Night Live wine?

The 2015 The Californians Monterey County Merlot is a classic Californian wine. Sourced from sustainable vineyards, this merlot is more full flavored. While not as bold as a Cabernet Sauvignon, the flavors are very concentrated. Some flavors notes like plum and roasted coffee are quite prevalent. Like the drama filled The Californians namesake, this merlot is best enjoyed with a hearty, meaty stew.
The 2016 Saturday Night Live California Red Blend is a robust wine that is ready for any occasion. A blend of merlot, zinfandel and petite Syrah is a tannin forward wine. Aged in bourbon barrels, the wine has some oaky character but is balanced with herbaceous notes. While some berry notes come through, this wine is definitely versatile for many palates.
