Recently Post Consumer Brands announced new cereals that will be joining its existing cereal brands. A total of six new cereals will be hitting store shelves at the end of January. These new cereals include: Great Grains® Coconut Almond Crunch, Post® Grape-Nuts® Trail Mix Crunch, Malt-O-Meal® cereal Double Chocolate Brownie Crunch, Malt-O-Meal® cereal Cinnamon Dyno-Bites®, Malt-O-Meal® cereal Golden Honey O’s and MOM’s Best® Crispy Cinnamon Rice. These new offerings join Post® Oreo® O’s and Post® Honey Maid® S’mores, which will become available nationwide. Also, Post® Shredded Wheat, Mixed Berry, Cinnamon Roll and S’mores Bites, will be available nationwide.
The new Post cereal flavors respond to both consumers’ nutritional wants as well as nostalgic flavor trends. For example, the MOM’s Best line features cereals that are gluten free and contain no artificial flavors or colors. Many families are looking for food choices that represent these nutritional caveats but still appeal to the families’ flavor preferences.
Parents understand that good nutrition is important for the family. But if the flavor isn’t family-friendly, the cereal won’t be eaten in the household. These new cereal flavors incorporate both concerns for the family consumer.

The most exciting new flavor combination in the Post cereal offerings is the Great Grains Coconut Almond Crunch. According to Post, this cereal features “flecks of real tropical coconut, almonds and crunchy wheat flakes and clusters, this new flavor is a good source of whole grain with no high fructose corn syrup and no artificial flavors or colors.” The combination of tropical flavors with crunchy clusters sounds like a satisfying bite to start the date. Balancing texture and flavor is key to any good dish and this cereal seems to accomplish that task.
Of course, many cereal fans will rejoice with the news that Post is launching Post® Oreo® O’s and Post® Honey Maid® S’mores nationwide. While these cereals represent the sweet treat to start the day, the iconic flavors are favorites with fans.
Who doesn’t remember a Saturday morning cartoons with a bowl of sweet cereal? While these cereals may not be an everyday breakfast, the flavors do appeal to that sweet indulgence. Maybe cereal can be the new dessert course?
