Forget the beach, Spring is all about baking. Spring Baking Championship returns to the Food Network March 12. Ten bakers will take to the Food Network kitchens to whip up delicious sweet treats. The three favorite judges, Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Lorraine Pascale return. A new host, Ali Khan, will keep everyone on task. What treats will these bakers create?

According to Courtney White, Senior Vice President Programming, Scripps Networks Interactive, the new season of Spring Baking Championship will feature “all the hallmarks of spring including flowers, vibrant colors, bountiful fruit, and outdoor elements for inspiration.” Hopefully this new season will push the creativity level in the kitchen. Could food trends, like edible flowers or bee pollen, be included in this season’s challenges?

Fans can expect a wide array of baking challenges. Some of the anticipated themes for the new season include “beautiful baked bites befitting spring such as cupcake flower arrangements, picnic-perfect mini pies, berry-infused desserts, mirror-glazed gazing balls, ombre cakes and more.” Hopefully, the bakers will offer some tricks for the home bakers and viewers.

While some of these themes have been incorporated before, the bakers will be expected to push the baking envelope. Technical ability will need to work hand in hand with elegant presentation. Too bad Food Network hasn’t developed taste-o-vision. Definitely don’t watch this show hungry.
