Honey offers a natural sweetness to both sweet and savory dishes. At this 2018 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival, honey gets its moment to shine.

One of nature’s favorite sweeteners, honey has great versatility. While some people simply add it to tea, honey can be so much more. From a glaze on vegetables to a punch of flavor on top of cheese, honey has such great flexibility. At this year’s Epcot Flower and Garden Festival, honey is set to be the food star.

From February 28 through May 28, 2018, Epcot’s annual Flower and Garden Festival is a celebration of nature’s bounty. While the impressive character topiaries appear throughout the theme park, the annual festival is an opportunity to explore nature. Since nature bounty fills the table, food, and specifically honey, makes this festival more than just pretty flowers.

Since honey is naturally produced by bees, the food has many different flavors. Location can vary the favor. Depending on the area’s vegetation, the natural sweetener can have all types of different flavor notes. From floral to spicy, there isn’t just one honey flavor.

The dishes at the Honey Bee-stro shows the ingredient’s variety. A type that works in a savory dish might not be the best choice for a sweet dessert and vice versa. Experimenting with varieties can increase the home cook’s knowledge and appreciation for this important ingredient.

Since bees are very important to nature, Spike the honey bee is making his return to the annual festival. A fun activity for the whole family, the Spike scavenger hunt allows guests to follow his pollination trail around Epcot. From collecting nectar to pollinating gardens, this experience is a great way to understand the importance of bees.
