A new group of bakers enter the Food Network kitchen with the dream of being crown Spring Baking Champion. To win this season, the bakers need to whip up delicious and creative Spring themed treats. Will the Spring Baking Championship Season 4 premiere be a rising success?

According to the Food Network, Spring Baking Championship Season 4 premiere episode features the following.

"The competition kicks off in the pre-heat, when the 10 bakers celebrate the bountiful fruits and bright colors of the season by making fruity, tie-dye mini cheesecakes. In the main heat, the theme — and the competition — intensifies when the bakers are asked to incorporate fresh herbs and produce color gradients in their naked ombre cakes."

Spring and fresh fruits are a tasty combination. After a long, hibernating winter, everyone is ready for bright, luscious fruit forward flavors. The preheat should be a great way for the bakers to showcase their skills to the judges. While the tie-dye component seems a little strange, the fruit aspect should be quite good.

For the main heat, the idea of using fresh herbs is an on-trend idea. Incorporating some savory notes into dessert is more common. The key to these types of desserts is balance. No one wants a dessert that is too herbaceous. The savory herbs can balance the sweetness and add a nuanced flavor. If the bakers aren’t comfortable with this style of baking, the dessert could go quite wrong.

If I had to guess, lemon thyme desserts would probably be a popular choice. Other options could be strawberry and basil. Some herbs work well with desserts and other herbs do not. Hopefully someone incorporates turmeric into a dessert.
