Who said food can’t be healthy AND delicious? Original ChopShop has changed the game, and it’s now in Dallas, Texas!

The Phoenix-based “feel-good food” eatery is opening several locations in the DFW. The first is now open and welcoming guests in Las Colinas who are on the hunt for healthy eats! The restaurant is known for its healthy meals, their most popular options being the protein bowls and fresh juices. Every item on the menu can be customized to your preference and dietary restrictions. There is something for everyone, from gluten-free meals, soy, and even vegan options. And the price tag? Very affordable.

Earlier this week, Original ChopShop invited us to try out their food before its big opening on April 10. Here’s a quick review and recap of the evening’s events…

Everyone behind the counter and greeting guests were busy-busy, but never did they stop flashing a smile. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. My guest and I shared a Pitaya Bowl, one of the Superfruit Bowls. It consists of “pitaya blended with apple juice, pineapple and banana, topped with granola, kiwi, banana slices, shredded coconut, and agave nectar.” Very tasty and refreshing, perfect snack on a hot day.

More from Healthy Eating

For our entrée, we had one of the Grilled Protein Bowls, what Original ChopShop does best. We selected the Spicy Korean Steak bowl: “Steak, green onion, sesame seed, and brown rice” All bowls also come with roasted broccoli, cauliflower, onions, carrots, and mushrooms. Want to pack on the protein? This is the dish you want to get!

We also enjoyed a sandwich, the Grinder, made up of “ham, turkey, soppresata, provolone, mayo, tomato, house greens, onion, banana pepper, and red wine vinaigrette,” all between a 12 grain ciabatta wheat bread.

Finally, we ordered fresh juice — Power Green and Cold Buster. The Power Green is blended “kale, cucumber, celery, apple, ginger, parsley, and lemon.” And the Cold Buster is “carrots, orange, ginger, turmeric, and lemon!” These beverages are not only energizing (and a great substitution to a coffee, which will just have you crashing after a couple of hours), but they’re also perfect for the approaching summer. And, I’ll admit, if you’re picky with your veggies as I am, Original ChopShops’ fresh juices are a great way to get your dose of fruits and vegetables!

Patio weather season is here! Order your food and enjoy it out on the restaurant’s shaded patio. By the end of the year, the company plans on opening three more locations in the Dallas area. In the meantime, you can find Las Colinas’ Original ChopShop at 7300 N. MacArthur Boulevard. Stop by Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Be sure to follow Original ChopShop on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Visit them online to find locations and view their menu!
