According to the Food Network, the Best Baker in America Season 2 premiere, “Cake, Glorious Cake” features the following.
"Nine elite professional bakers gather to begin the first in a series of 14 challenges designed to test the limits of their baking mastery; in the master challenge, the bakers must create a mind-bending cake using vanilla as the featured flavor."
The choice of vanilla cake as the first challenge is quite telling. Many people think of vanilla as boring and bland. In the hands of talented pastry chefs, vanilla is far from ordinary. In this challenge, the baker who can make vanilla fresh, new and inventive will surge to the front.
