In Best Baker in America Season 2 episode 5, the bakers tackle delicious meringues. Will these delicate confections fall or flourish?

With five bakers remaining, Best Baker in America Season 2 episode 5 whips up the tricky meringue. Whether in a pie or a cake, meringue can even stump the most accomplished baker. Who will create baking perfection?

According to the Food Network, this week’s episode, Magnificent Meringue will feature the following.

"The five remaining bakers must make mini meringue pies in the Skills Challenge. In the Master Challenge, they’re challenged to feature raspberry flavor in a classical French layered meringue cake called a marjolaine. Pastry chef Shinmin Li serves as a guest judge, joining Marcela Valladolid and Jason Smith to eliminate one baker from the competition."

Considered the queen of cakes, the marjolaine is a variation on dacquoise. Classically, this cake is rectangular shaped and is decorated with chocolate ganache. Also, it often incorporates nuts. It will be interesting to see how the bakers add their unique spin to this classic dessert.

As the season starts to reach the end, it isn’t clear if one baker has an advantage or could surge to the lead. With Adam falling to the bottom, no baker is truly safe. Still, Adam could get on a roll again.

For this challenge, I would guess that Jean-Francois should have a huge advantage. The accomplished French baker should be able to make delicate meringues in his sleep. Still, could he become too confident and not be able to deliver a delicious treat?
