Getting your caffeine fix is even easier. Dunkin’ Donuts has integrated its on-the-go ordering to work with Alexa. Let’s hope she gets your order right.
Announced today, Dunkin’ Donuts is making your run to Dunkin’ even easier. For consumers who are DD Perks® Rewards members, they can link their Amazon account and enable Alexa ordering. Guests will pick the time and location to pick up their order. Let’s hope that the kids don’t schedule a donut run on the way to school.
The Alexa integration is the brand’s commitment to providing “new levels of convenience and speed” in its loyalty members’ routines. With nearly 8 million loyalty members, this new integration can reaffirms customer’s loyalties with the offer of even more convenience. If a morning coffee, sandwich or donut is waiting at the counter when you want it, the consumer is more willing to order and order more frequently.

This Alexa integration does require membership in the DD Perks Rewards program. Still, these restaurant loyalty programs are constantly growing. Consumers want to feel that their purchases and their loyalty have value. Giving a frequent guest a free beverage after spending a significant amount of money has value to the brand. The reward doesn’t cost a large sum of money but it does keep consumers coming back for more.

With this new ordering system, it will be important to ensure that Alexa gets the order right. Everyone has been through an Alexa ordering misunderstanding. Since the app does store favorite orders, the process should be fairly simple. Again, make sure that the parental check are in place. Kids don’t need a dozen donuts or a pumpkin spice latte on the way to school.
Since Dunkin’ Donuts has opted to create this integration, it will be interesting to see what other fast food and fast casual restaurants will be next.
