The Beyond Famous Star, a Carl’s Jr. and Beyond Burger collaboration
The Beyond Famous Star is the latest innovation coming to Carl’s Jr. Will the Beyond Meat burger bring new fans to the iconic restaurant?
The Beyond Famous Star is the latest innovation coming to Carl’s Jr. Partnering with Beyond Meat, this new burger will feature the 100% plant based The Beyond Burger. The Carl’s Jr. and Beyond Meat partnership will be the largest U.S. restaurant chain to date to offer The Beyond Burger on the menu.
While the burger patty has changed, everything else about the favorite Star burger remains the same. The quarter pound patty will be cooked on Carl’s Jr. unique char broiler, which gives the burger its special flavor.
Additionally, the Beyond Famous Star will feature “The Beyond Burger patty topped with melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, sliced onions, dill pickles, special sauce and mayonnaise on a seeded bun.” It will be available starting January 2, 2019 and will retail $6.29. Also, The Beyond Burger can be added to any Carl’s Jr. sandwich for an additional $2.

The change coming to Carl’s Jr. shows that people desire more flexitarian options. Many consumers today don’t necessarily identify themselves as a single category eater. Some days people opt for more plant based choices while other days they indulge in meat options.
The Beyond Meat brand focuses on those people who live the flexitarian lifestyle. Studies show that about one third of consumers follow this type of lifestyle. Adding more vegetarian options to their diets provides balance without completely revamping their entire diet.
The flavor and texture of the Beyond Burger appeals to people who want a burger that has the textures and satisfaction of real, red meat. Previously, some vegetarian-focused burgers left consumers longing for a big, juicy burger. From the flexitarian to the vegetarian, this burger has become a huge favorite because it satisfies like a traditional red meat burger.
Carl’s Jr. unique char broiler should make this partnership be quite successful. While not having taste tested The Beyond Famous Star, I have taste tested Beyond Meat burgers in various settings. These burgers are best enjoyed with a good char. The sear on the patty makes the burger juicy and the texture is reminiscent of a classic burger off the grill.
