In Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 13, the black jackets might have been handed out, but the tension in the kitchen is getting too heated.

Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 13 should have the five remaining chefs excited to reach the ultimate goal of winning this cooking competition. Unfortunately, the chefs still haven’t learned the lesson that teamwork creates success. Will it finally be time to see a boisterous veteran leave the kitchen?

According to FOX, the synopsis for Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 13 states:

"All hell breaks loose as the final five chefs struggle through a new challenge, leading to a bitter elimination that dramatically alters the dynamic of the group. As the remaining chefs reach the final stages of the competition, pressure is at an all-time high. Tune in to find out which chef is sent home in the “An Episode of Firsts” episode of HELL’S KITCHEN."

The new challenge is undefined. Finding a new challenge for these seasoned chefs could be quite entertaining. The chefs have done desserts, appetizers and even blind taste tests. What new challenge could Gordon Ramsay devise?

While the first challenge should be entertaining, the real burning question is where is the communication in the kitchen? Check out this exclusive preview clip from FOX.

To be honest, Brett isn’t my favorite chef from this season. His personality is brash, his cooking style is predictable and he is selfish in the kitchen. Throughout the season, his ego has grown and grown. Still, his errors in the kitchen have multiplied. It was curious that he earned a black jacket so easily.

Given this preview clip, Brett is forgetting a huge kitchen fundamental. He isn’t communicating with his fellow chefs. Of course, he wants to be the star in the kitchen. But his ego is derailing dinner service.

As the competition nears the finish line, every chef wants to prove her worth. But, that characteristic doesn’t make a well-rounded chef. A kitchen is a team that must work together. Lacking communication doesn’t make a strong team.

Going into this episode, it would be refreshing to see Brett eliminated. He has been rude to women (which totally wrong). He hasn’t shown that he can cook anything other than Italian food (and that food is mostly mediocre). Please don’t let Brett take a spot from one of the other deserving chefs.

In truth, there are three chefs that are deserving of the title. Ariel has been on her game throughout the season. She offers a calm demeanor and she is on task. While she might not be totally innovative, she is a contender.

Motto has been quietly making his way through the competition. Many of his dishes have been creative and executed well. He understands the dynamic in the kitchen. He deserves his shot.

Lastly, Mia has been quite creative throughout the season. While she has had moments of doubt, overall she has done well. She should continue.
