In Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 14 preview, the final four chefs face this season’s most shocking twist. Who will make the finale?

Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 14 asks the four remaining chefs the only question that matters, who deserves a spot in the finale? While the two rookies and the two veterans have had both ups and downs, only two chefs will compete in the finale. Although Gordon Ramsay has the definite decision, the chefs’ opinions do matter.

According to FOX, the synopsis for Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 14 states:

"The final four chefs participate in a tableside challenge, preparing them for the showmanship that the Las Vegas Executive Chef position will require. After the guest judges vote, the winner of the challenge receives a luxurious day in Malibu and invites one of the other four chefs to join. Later on, the pressure returns when the chefs endure the showmanship challenge, which is plagued with rookie mistakes. Nobody can keep their heads above water and in the most shocking twist of the season, not one, but two chefs go home in the all-new “What’s Your Motto?” Season 18 penultimate episode of HELL’S KITCHEN airing Friday, Feb. 1 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

A couple of items are interesting about this synopsis. First, how many restaurants still do tableside service? Sure, that moment when the chef comes out and interacts with the guests is wonderful, but it is an old-school move.

With so many open kitchens, the need for tableside service is lessened. The smaller, intimate restaurants seem to bring the guests into the cooking experience as a whole. Sitting at a countertop is becoming as common as a chef’s table.

Still, the idea of chef “showmanship” is quite important. Today, chefs are personalities. From cooking demos to televisions appearances, they can’t hide out in the kitchen. There needs to be a sense of flair, personality and “it” factor. Do any of the four chefs really have that “it” factor?

Of course, the penultimate episode is going to have more drama than just tableside service. Check out this exclusive preview clip of Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 14.

It is quite obvious that Mia and Brett don’t want each other to be in the final. Regardless of what did or did not happen during dinner service, their disdain for each other is obvious.

Based on this clip, Mia has a very valuable point. Brett has only cooked Italian food. If he can’t cook other styles of food, why does he deserve to win? This chef position needs versatility. Brett is lacking in that department.

More disturbing, Brett has the worst attitude. He definitely has a condensing attitude towards women chefs. He talks down to them and doesn’t take them seriously. In today’s kitchen environment, this attitude is totally unacceptable. Hopefully, Brett does not make the final two.

The biggest turn of events in this exclusive preview clip is Motto’s decision. Choosing to put himself up for elimination is either brilliant or crazy. Overall, Motto has performed well. While it is unclear how he does in this episode, he was brilliant in last week’s challenge.

Putting himself up for elimination seems like an unlikely move. Granted, he doesn’t have to choose another chef, but he needs to be strong in this opinions. Executive chefs often have big egos and it is doubtful that many chefs would make this choice. Why would anyone put himself in jeopardy?

Looking at the final four, it seems obvious that Ariel  will make the finale. She has done well throughout the season. She has definitely earned her redemption.

Based on the other three, it should be either Motto or Mia. The whole self-nomination by Motto is a little strange. Hopefully, that choice didn’t sink his chances.
