Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back: Bayou on the Vine preview
Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back heads to Missouri and Bayou on the Vine. Is this Cajun restaurant ready for a restaurant makeover?
Another struggling restaurant looks to Gordon Ramsay for a restaurant makeover. This week, Bayou on the Vine looks to turn the corner on this Cajun restaurant. Can this restaurant/music venue finally hit the right note?
Throughout the season of Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back, the restaurants all have similar problems. Putting aside cleanliness issues, a poor working dynamic plagues many of these restaurants. While décor and food play a part, the owners and staff must communicate well in order to achieve success.
According to FOX, this week’s episode states:
"Gordon Ramsay’s Hell On Wheels travels to Bayou on the Vine, a family-owned-and-operated Cajun restaurant in Kansas City, MO. After intense investigation and surveillance, Chef Ramsay and his team discover that the family dynamic is creating a challenging work environment. Ramsay will try to bring this failing restaurant back from the brink of disaster – all in just 24 hours. As the clock ticks down, Ramsay and his team transform this restaurant with a spectacular renovation, a fresh new menu and hope for the future in the all-new “Bayou on the Vine” episode of GORDON RAMSAY’S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK airing Wednesday, Feb. 6 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."
While this synopsis sets up the basis of the episode, the cooking demo on this week’s episode is even more telling. Check out this week’s Gordon Ramsay cooking demo from the Bayou on the Vine episode. The recipe is for Beer-Brined chicken.
This video offers some wonderful tips for the home cook. First, did you hear the tip about chicken? Never cook chicken straight from the refrigerator.
If you ever wondered why your chicken is dry, this issue is the answer. Cooking cold chicken causes the outside to be overcooked while the middle gets cooked to temperature. Using this tip will change how you cook chicken forever.

Also, the other chicken tip is essential. Always let chicken rest. Actually, this idea applies to all proteins. Cutting a protein before it is rested causes all the wonderful flavor to leach out onto your cutting board. No one wants that to happen.
Lastly, it is good to watch Gordon layer flavors. Each part of the sauce is built layer upon layer. Don’t just throw all the ingredients into a pan and stir. Incorporate each element and let it build for the best flavors.
Does Bayou on the Vine become a successful restaurant/musical space? According to recent reviews, it appears that the owners have made good changes. It will be curious to see if the restaurant continues to prosper.
