In this week’s episode of Worst Cooks in America Celebrity Edition, the recruits are mixing up both a cocktail and a tasty lunch.
Is Worst Cooks in America Celebrity Edition in need of a stiff drink? While this season has traveled around the world and caught a few fish, the recruits still need to sharpen their cooking skills. This week’s episode will see the celebrity cooks put their newly found cooking skills to the test.
According to Food Network, this week’s episode, “Waited on Hand and Foot” features:
"The celebrities find boot camp transformed into an elegant cocktail party suitable for their refined tastes. While sipping on champagne and caviar-topped blinis, mentors Anne Burrell and Tyler Florence announce that the recruits each have to make their own champagne cocktail and a tray of blinis from scratch. Afterward, the tables are turned for these pampered celebrities when they must cater lunch for the entire Worst Cooks crew. The bottom two celebs battle it out in the blind elimination challenge for the chance to stay in the competition."
First, a champagne cocktail shouldn’t be overly difficult. In many cases, the champagne cocktail serves as an aperitif to a perfect meal. A key to a good cocktail is balance of flavors.
When thinking about a champagne cocktail, the recruits need to highlight the champagne, not overpower it. A few liqueurs, like elderflower, can enhance the floral notes of the champagne. Still, the recruits need to be judicious in their pours. No one wants to cook tipsy.
Making blinis from scratch will be difficult. Even some professional chefs don’t like to make blinis. The recruits will need to follow directions well.
For the catered lunch challenge, the celebrities need to work as a team. A well thought out menu will be key to success. Additionally, the dishes need to be approachable and manageable. Proper time management will be key to this challenge.
Since the Worst Cooks in America Celebrity Edition season is nearing the end, the blind elimination challenge will be daunting. Last week’s challenge was clear that Johnathan would be going home. While his dish was a huge improvement, he didn’t have the passion for this competition.
Given the four remaining celebrities in competition, anyone could have a bad cook and go home. If the required dish is something that is unfamiliar, a perceived favorite could be sent home.
