The good times continue to roll because Mardi Gras 2021 at Universal Orlando has been extended to April 11. Although the traditional Fat Tuesday has come and gone, Universal Orlando has kept  the party going. Grab your beads and your appetite because there is still plenty of time to enjoy the Carnaval of flavors again.

This year’s Universal Orlando Mardi Gras 2021 expanded the food and beverage offerings. With more than 100 food and beverage items on the menu, it is likely that guests didn’t get their fill on the first visit. It is a good thing that the special food festival event has been extended.

While traditional Cajun fare, like a beignets, jambalya and even the crawfish boil always tempt guests, there are a few newer options that are worth a second or even third taste. Even though many people will always save room for that Butterbeer, the food and beverage delights at Mardi Gras 2021 are a reason to celebrate.

Here are FoodSided’s Mardi Gras 2021 recommendations to try or enjoy again.

Pernil and Mofongo, La Isla del Encanto

This traditional Puerto Rican dish is a flavorful delight. The roasted pork with the onion mojo and smashed plantains might make you wish for a trip to the island. Whether or you pair with the special green pina colada is up to you.

Pholourie, Trinidad

Although the name might be hard to pronounce, the dish will have you excited to eat your vegetables. The spicy split pea dough it seasoned with curry powder and turmeric. With the tamarind chutney it is an explosion of flavors. Plus, the sizzle cocktail adds to traditional Trinidadian celebration.

Bloody Mary, New Orleans

While people love the beignets or even can’t resist the andouille twisted tater, the Bloody Mary is a must order. With so many extras, it is almost like an appetizer with a cocktail.

Poached Pear Crème Brulee Crepe, France

Everyone knows that the crepes at Universal are always a must eat food. The Poached Pear Crème Brulee Crepe is a delight. The wine poached pear with the almonds is worthy of a restaurant meal. Don’t miss this tasty treat.

Jerk Jackfruit, Bahamas

While vegetarians know the deliciousness of jackfruit, this jerk jackfruit showcases how vegan dishes are both flavorful and satisfying.

These food options are just a very, very small sampling of the gigantic Mardi Gras 2021 menu at Universal Orlando. The food festival runs now through April 11. It is included with theme park admission.
