While Father’s Day gifts might focus on a four letter word, the reality is that Father’s Day cocktails keep the celebration going. From gin to rum to tequila, there is a spirit that will keep dad’s spirits high. Make sure that the glass is full and don’t let the celebration be cut short.

Here are the Father’s Day cocktails that FoodSided recommends.

Aviation Gin – The Vasectomy

Everyone knows that Ryan Reynolds knows how to make a statement with his cocktails. From the back to school offering to a little cheeky humor in the mix, the reality is that Reynolds often says what people are really thinking.

This year, Aviation Gin is offering The Vasectomy as its choice for Father’s Day cocktails. While no bag of peas is involved with this cocktail, it might make you think a look a little more fondly at those kids.

The Vasectomy

  • Tall Glass of Ice “Fill it just the way children fill our lives with so much joy”
  • 1 oz. of Cranberry Juice “Sweet: just like their little smiles”
  • 3 oz. of Tonic Water “So bubbly, just like I feel every day waking up after a long, full night of sleep”
  • Dash of Lemon Juice “Fresh if you have a few mins to squeeze one”
  • 1.5 oz. of Aviation American Gin “the world’s highest rated gin for the world’s highest rated job”

Teremana Tequila – The People’s Margarita

A classic cocktail, the People’s Margarita from Teremana is Dwayne Johnson’s preferred choice. Although it might not help to create The Rock’s amazing “dad bod,” it is a delightful sip to enjoy after a long day.

5 O’Clock Fizz

As Q Mixers Chief Happy Hour Officer, Joel McHale is always ready to mix up a great cocktail. Since Q Mixers always makes a spectacular start to a cocktail, everyone knows that the first sip will be as great as the last one.

While McHale calls this cocktail, “freaking delicious,” it is quite vivacious. Sure, drinking one a little earlier than 5 O’clock might make for a longer celebration, but the Chief Happy Hour Officer gives dads permission to start their celebration early.

Shake all ingredients except the ginger beer and strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Top with Q Hibiscus Ginger Beer and garnish with an orange peel.

BACARDÍ Ocho Old Fashioned

While you might not want to call dad old on Father’s Day, there is something to be said about his wisdom and knowledge. Those years lived have made him distinguished, polished and refined. Sure, there are moments when those adjectives are thrown out the window, but the finer things in life are meant to be celebrated.

With the BACARDÍ Ocho Old Fashioned, the traditional Old Fashioned gets a twist from the rum. Ready to shake up that classic cocktail?

  • 2 oz. BACARDÍ Reserva Ocho Rum
  • ¼ oz. simple syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura® Bitters

Add all ingredients into a rocks glass. Fill with ice. Stir until well mixed and very cold. Garnish with an orange peel twist.

Pomegranate Negroni

Summer and the negroni are a classic combination. While gin is seeing a resurgence in popularity, this twist on the negroni gives a boost to that apertif.

Before dad lights the fire on the grill for dinner, shake up this Pomegranate Negroni from Beefeaters and toast to another year well lived.

  • 1 ¼ oz Beefeater Dry Gin
  • 1 oz Campari
  • 1 oz Lillet Blanc
  • ¼ oz pomegranate juice
  • 2 dashes orange bitters

Garnish: Orange twist

  • Add all ingredients into a mixing glass and add ice. Stir until chilled. Strain into class and add ice. Garnish.

Strawberry Basil Smash

Some dads enjoy a neat whisky while sitting by the fire. But, that favorite whisky doesn’t have to be drunk on its own. With this cocktail the ABERFELDY is blended with bright, sweet strawberries. Adding the basil creates balance. On a warm summer day, this cocktail is perfectly refreshing.

  • 1 ½ oz ABERFELDY 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
  • 3-5 strawberries
  • 3 basil leaves
  • ¾ oz lemon juice
  • ½ oz simple syrup

  • Shake all ingredients, pour over fresh ice and rock glass. Garnish with a strawberry and basil leaf.
