Universal Summer Tribute Store celebrates 80s big screen favorites
While it might be a year since the Velocicoaster called guests to take on the hunt, Universal Studios is channeling 80s big screen favorite movies. The Universal Summer Tribute Store offers a taste of movie nostalgia and guests are ready for the curtain to rise on the latest special offering.
The Universal Tribute Store continually transforms to offer guests a new immersive experience. From the Halloween themes during the annual Halloween Horror Nights to Mardi Gras and the holidays, each new version has hidden gems around every corner. Each and every detail shows the efforts of the Universal Creative team.
While summer and movie blockbusters are a classic combination, the Universal Summer Tribute Store channels three iconic films that are part of the pop culture lexicon. Even if you still can’t get back in the water or you need to phone home, walking through the Universal Summer Tribute Store will definitely bring a smile.
The three movies featured are E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, JAWS, and Back to the Future. Although only one of the three movies still has an attraction at Universal Orlando, these iconic films are more than just the nostalgia trend. Both young and old appreciate the movies, their themes, and their place in movie history.
Although many Universal Orlando fans wish that JAWS was still part of the theme park’s attractions, the props in the Tribute Store bring back a taste of that experience. From Quint’s boat shack to a ship’s hull in the rafters, it brings that beach-side vibe. Luckily, there is nothing ominous lurking in the water.
Lastly, the Back to the Future room channels that inner scientist. The detail in Doc’s garage could inspire another budding scientist to create the next impressive invention. Just maybe that “Outatime” license plate could make driving down I4 a little more enjoyable.
Since every Tribute Store offers a plethora of tasty treats, the Concession Stand is overflowing with delicious snacks and desserts. Using the classic movies as inspiration, the food offerings are detailed and delicious.
While some offerings are riffs on favorites, many of the treats are almost too cute to eat. These desserts will be popping up on everyone’s social media feed.
And, for anyone who remembers last summer’s Jurassic Park Tribute Store, a few of those desserts have returned to the concession stand. Don’t miss that s’mores treat. It was a good one.
The Universal Summer Tribute Store is located in Universal Studios Orlando. It is open during park hours and is included with theme park admission. For more information on tickets and hours, please visit the Universal Orlando website.
