Halloween themed food can come in various flavors, shapes and sizes. While many people might long for that first spoonful of Monster Cereals, Howl-O-Scream Orlando is taking a different approach to some of its food options. Do you dare enjoy one of these alternative protein sources that might scratch your food adventurous itch?

Recently, the SeaWorld Orlando culinary team has elevated its culinary options. From this summer’s Electric Ocean to the craft beer festival, strolling around the theme park is peppered with tasty treats. While the classic theme park food is always available, the special events allow the chefs to push the envelope with its ingredients and flavors.

Given that Howl-O-Scream Orlando 2022 is unafraid to go where other themes parks do not venture, the food menu is equally as daring. Beyond the creative cocktails and sweet treats, one booth is taking a stance on alternative proteins. It might have your throat itching a little.

At one of the food booths, the menu items have a little extra crunch. Although some haunted experiences offer a play on some particular proteins, Howl-O-Scream Orlando goes all in on the arthropods.

The menu consists of Grasshopper Tacos, Chipotle Cricket Sandwich and Ant Pretzel Rods. While the pictures might have some running to the next booth, others are excited to get the first taste. It might a dare, it might be curiosity, but it is a bite that is unforgettable.

Granted, these ingredients might not pack the biggest flavor punch, but it does add an element to the dish. It might be best to have a cocktail to enjoy with it. Sometimes that crunchy factor can get stuck in your throat. Or maybe it is just a mind trick.

Even though some people might turn this food stop into a dare or run from it entirely, the SeaWorld culinary team should get some recognition for trying the idea. A few people might need an extra beer to get on board with the other proteins, but the idea is good for the planet. And, as the sirens warned everyone, they are not happy with the planet pillaging that has happened. Maybe it is time to rethink the food on the plate.

Howl-O-Scream Orlando runs now through October 31 on select nights. It is a separately ticketed event. Food menu items’ cost vary.
