Over the past several years, Pepsi has touted its belief that all food is better with Pepsi. Whether it was the recent hot dog condiment discussion, chicken wings, or anything that can be served, the reality is that the cola with a hint of citrus heightens the eating experience. With the return of Pepsi Pineapple, it is time to reignite a food discussion about fruit and pizza.

Pizza toppings can cause a spirited food debate. While kids might never venture far from plain cheese and some adults might pile on the additions, fruit on pizza can be controversial. Putting aside dessert pizza recipes, the combination of pineapple, ham, and cheese has people divided.

To refresh this food conversation, Pepsi and Little Caesars have partnered on the Pineapple Pair-Up Combo. Available starting on July 17, the food offer includes a 16-ounce Pepsi Pineapple and a large 2-Topping Thin Crust Pizza. The online purchase price is $9.99.

According to Greg Hamilton, Chief Marketing Officer, Little Caesars. “Together with Pepsi, we’re satisfying ALL pineapple lovers, regardless of how they feel about it as a pizza topping. The Pineapple Pair-Up Combo gives our customers an exclusive opportunity to enjoy the tropical taste on their Thin Crust pizza, in their Pepsi or both.”’

While no one has to order pineapple as a topping to enjoy the Pineapple Pepsi, it brings up a discussion on that burst of tropical citrus when paired with a crispy, thin pizza. As Scott Finlow, Chief Marketing Officer of PepsiCo Global Foodservice asserted, that combination of Pepsi cola and sweet, fruity pineapple flavors will have people talking. It might not be the expected combination, it is another example how Pepsi is better with everything.

Pepsi Pineapple debuted in 2020. Over the years, the cola brand has infused its beverage with fruit forward flavors. Beyond the classic Cherry, Mango found its audience. It will be interesting to see if Pepsi can leverage other fruit flavors and food pairings going forward. Maybe there could be another citrus infused option in the can.

For now, the special offering is available exclusively at Little Caesars for a limited time. Whether you’ve tried pineapple on pizza or want to get people talking about the flavor combination, don’t miss the opportunity to try this special beverage. Like summer, it will be gone before you know it.
