Whether the day begins with a pop ride or a strength session, fueling all those activities with delicious food is essential. Recently, Cody Rigsby partnered with Planet Oat to celebrate the power breakfast. Savory, sweet, and satisfying, the bounty of possibilities will keep everyone going all day long.

Many people have turned to plant-based food, specifically oatmilk. From coffee creamers to smoothies to a multitude of recipes, the beverage allows cooks to be creative.

With the Planet Oat Unsweetened Oatmilk flavors, everyone has a blank foundation from which to build their recipes. The oatmilk adds lusciousness to a dish. Without adding too much sugar or calories, the creaminess makes it a smart choice for many dishes.

Recently, Planet Oat partnered with Cody Rigsby to celebrate the idea of a power breakfast. Many people know Cody from Peloton, Dancing with the Stars, and his popular book and podcast. Never at a loss for words, his vivacious personality shines in everything he does.

Through his partnership with the Planet Oat, Cody Rigsby graciously answered some questions for FoodSided.

Cristine Struble: Many people love your peloton rides because they blend great music, fun, stories, and real advice. What are your favorite types of classes to teach? And how has the Peloton community changed over the years?

Cody Rigsby: My favorite classes to teach are pop rides because that's my bread and butter. I love to sing and to play music that people know and are familiar with because it adds to the experience. You feel like you're at home, and you feel like you can have fun. It also gives me the opportunity to add in those pop culture chats that people come to my class for, so I really enjoy that. I also really do love jumping into hidden hill rides where it lets me tap into my inner athlete and we can just get sweaty.

CS: How has the Peloton community changed over the years?

CR: I've been there for 11 years, so it used to be a lot smaller and a bit more intimate, but we've invited a lot of members into the fold. It's always great to see a community grow that's supporting each other and lifting each other up and working through hard times and working on goals. Even though it's grown and it's big, I don't think it's gone away from its core of wanting people to be the best version of themselves and showing up for each other. Fitness, health and balanced eating are often linked.

CS: Do you need to have all areas working together in order to have a balanced lifestyle? Is it okay to have some moments where those areas do not?

CR: I think balance is a fine goal to have, but sometimes it is not achievable. I know perfect balance all the time is not achievable for me, so I try to frame my life into the seasonality of certain moments: some are going to be high energy and more demanding. You're going to have to be more locked in, and that's when I accept and just do just that. I also try to find seasons that are still productive but include saying “no” to things more and giving myself time to be by myself and do things that feel good to me. And then there are seasons of absolutely not being available for anyone except for yourself and the people that you love. No working, no cell phones, no emails, just saying “no” and having no shame or guilt about that. As long as you put in the infrastructure before you leave work to make sure your work is covered, trust that your coworkers and the people in your life are going to do the job that they are hired to do so that you can clock out for a bit.

CS: Over the years, people have tried to stop putting negative connotations on food. Do you think that having a positive perspective on food, exercise, etc. is important to the overall mindset?

CR: We can educate ourselves on what we're putting into our bodies so we know what's right for ourselves. I believe when we use food or working out as a punishment, it's not really additive to well-being or feeling good about yourself because you're getting into this punishment-like mindset. I think it's about how we frame it: I'm doing this workout because it feels good and it makes me feel strong, I'm eating this meal because it's yummy or it's nourishing, or I'm getting the macro/micro nutrients that make me feel satiated after eating it. Instead of everything being punitive, you're trying to avoid the negative. I think when you gravitate towards the positive, it's going to fall in line with what you're trying to achieve.

CS: So many people are more willing to incorporate plant-based foods or plant-based swaps into their lifestyle. What made you add Planet Oat to your food?

CR: Planet Oat’s Unsweetened Oatmilks are the perfect choice for me because I'm always looking to avoid added sugar. I add Planet Oat Unsweetened Vanilla Oatmilk to my oatmeal in the morning, and to my post-workout smoothies, because it tastes great, has zero grams of sugar and fuels me without slowing me down.

CS: Anything else about swapping plant-based?

CR: There are so many options out there when it comes to milk, and I think that can be intimidating for people. For me, Planet Oat is the perfect fit, because it tastes delicious and has a uniquely full-bodied, creamy taste. Planet Oat helps me meet my nutritional needs and makes me feel great!

CS: Can you share your favorite smoothie recipe?

CR: My favorite post-workout meal is a smoothie made with Planet Oat Unsweetened Vanilla Oatmilk. I add a banana, peanut butter, and then either whey or plant-based protein powder, spinach, and if I’m looking to have more carbohydrates or get that additional boost for muscle building, I add in half a cup of oats. I also blend in a lot of ice because I want it cold. Blend that baby up and enjoy!

CS: What's ahead for you in 2025?

CR: I've been really hustling for the last five years, and I'm going to commit to saying “no” more frequently to the things that don't feel like a yes! I’m going to continue to do things that bring me joy and bring other people joy, whether that be on the Peloton bike, in content spaces, behind the scenes in creative spaces, social media, or just having fun.

Whether this year is full of saying yes, making priorities, or living day to day, one aspect can tie all those scenarios together. A power breakfast fueled with Planet Oat is a delicious and nutritious start to the day.
