Today’s consumer is more ingredient conscious. Artificial flavors and too much sodium are food don’ts. Even though certain ingredients aren’t wanted, flavor needs to be bold. Listening to the consumers’ wants, Top Ramen has updated its original recipe.

When an iconic brand announces a change to a classic recipe, fans often cringe. Granted some recipe modifications have been flops, the Top Ramen recipe revamp has achieved noodle zen. All the favorite, craveable ramen flavor is still there. Truthfully, this recipe makeover highlights the noodles better.

Recently, I had the opportunity to try the updated recipe. Honestly, it had been a while since I had a bowl of this particular ramen. Previously, I found some of the broth a little too salty for my liking. The bowl of ramen was always comforting and satisfying, but it was just not grabbing me.

The updated recipe had me craving more. I actually was ready to slurp every drop of noodle goodness. The saltiness was gone. The noodles were more tender and absorbed more of the broth. Actually, I wished that I had added some additional vegetables and protein to the bowl.  The flavor reminded me of the restaurant style ramen that I really enjoy. I think that I had a moment of noodle zen.
