National Doughnut Day has a long, storied history. The celebration goes back to the Great Depression. The celebration started as a way to raise funds and awareness for the Salvation Army. While some doughnut companies continue that Salvation Army campaign, many places just celebrate doughnuts.

Are you ready to celebrate doughnuts? Here are some of the places to get some free, or almost free, doughnuts for the food holiday celebration.

With the purchase of any beverage, guests can get a free classic donut. A classic donut could be a glazed, glazed chocolate, strawberry frosted with sprinkles and even a Boston Kreme. The offer is good all day long. Who says that you can’t eat doughnuts all day on June 1?

The red light will be on all day on June 1. Everyone can get a free doughnut for the food holiday. No purchase is necessary. Also, you can choose any doughnut on the menu. What doughnut would you choose?

Tim Hortons

This doughnut deal might be hard to get. The first in-restaurant guests that ask for Gold Timbits will get those golden delights for free. Plus, they will win the prize of free doughnuts for a year. It is unclear how many people will get this offer. Would you want a doughnut dipped in 24K gold and dipped in honey?
