Who’s excited for the World Cup? With these World Cup inspired recipes, everyone can get excited about the sporting event. Now, I am not know my mid-fielder from my defenseman, I do enjoy a good reason to throw a party and make some delicious food. Luckily, this sporting event offers lots of creative recipes for the occasion.

Since this sporting event brings together a wide cross section of cultures, the inspired recipes can be quite diverse. To be totally honest, I don’t know which country does or does not have a chance at hoisting the cup. Luckily, my friends at Boar’s Head have given me a few pointers to get inspired.

Boar’s Head has created Boar’s Head BOLD Predictions. These predictions “surround the four teams previously mentioned as they advance from the round of 16 and through the tournament. After each round concludes Boar’s Head will update their prediction for each remaining team.”

While I might offend soccer fans, I’m going to rank these particular predictions based on the World Cup inspired recipes that I would want to serve at my viewing parties. This ranking is determined just on my food preferences, nothing more. So, who’s ready to eat?

Belgium – Waffles aren’t just syrup holders

Boar’s Head wants you to re-think that Belgium Waffle for the soccer competition. Pair that fluffy, crispy waffle with some savory ingredients for an exciting charcuterie board. Add some cheese, nuts, cured meat and more for this BOLD prediction. Who said that an iconic Belgium waffle can’t get an update.

According to Boar’s Head, their BOLD Prediction states:

"Making their 13th appearance in the World Cup, Belgium’s best finish was 4th place in 1986! This year’s squad is considered to be in their “golden generation” and will place ahead of England, Panama, and Tunisia to advance to the round of 16!"

Japan – Bold Ichiban Teriyaki Style Chicken Sandwich with Asian Slaw

When having guests over to watch a sporting event, convenience and ease of eating is paramount. Sandwiches are always a good choice. But, a successful party doesn’t serve boring, plain sandwiches. For this Japanese inspired recipe, the sandwich gets a big boost of flavor.

The Bold Ichiban Teriyaki Style Chicken is balanced with the cool cucumber and flavorful slaw. The combination of flavors is bright and refreshing.

According to Boar’s Head, their BOLD Prediction states:

"This year, Japan will appear in their 6th World Cup appearance and they’ve never advanced past the round of 16. Japan has a chance to eclipse their previous record and will do so by finishing ahead Senegal and Poland in the round of 16!"

Mexico – Bold Chipotle Gouda Stuffed Peppers

Appetizers and finger foods are great during a sports watching party. This Mexican themed recipe adds a dash of spice without being too over the top. Remember the jalapeno seeds carry a lot of spice, so make sure to remove those items if you don’t like it extra hot.

Even the spice adverse fans will enjoy this recipe. The Gouda tames the spice level to something quite enjoyable. Plus, every party needs a fun appetizer. Why not start the party with a little kick?

According to Boar’s Head, their BOLD Prediction states:

"Mexico continues to have a strong presence at the World Cup and has advanced to the round of 16 in every World Cup since 1994. Mexico will continue their tradition by finishing above South Korea and Sweden to advance!"

England – Bold Horseradish Cheddar Spiced Potato Soup

Soup during the summer might not be the first recipe that I put on the menu. Still, this hearty soup could almost be a dip for some crusty bread. Sometimes after a long, hot day, (or a heated sports watching party), a bowl of soup can be pretty comforting.

With this English inspired recipe, why not grab a pint (or two) and unwind on the couch. Plus, potatoes are great for muscle recovery from all the potassium. Even in the middle of summer, this soup could be a delightful way to recharge.

According to Boar’s Head, their BOLD Prediction states:

"It’s been 52 long years since England last won the World Cup! In 2014, England was eliminated from the World Cup after two matches and will look to redeem themselves this year. England will finish above Panama and Tunisia to advance to advance to the round of 16!"
