What food does only 2% of Americans hate? One hint, it goes great with waffles. Yes, it really does.

One food is almost universally loved. According to a NationalToday.com survey, only 2% of Americans hate this food. Have you guess what it is?

July 6 is National Fried Chicken Day. In honor of the food holiday, this annual survey looked at some statistics about fried chicken. It is quite astounding that only 2% hate fried chicken. Who knew that such a simple, yet classic food, is so widely liked?

In the same survey, 16% of Americans would marry fried chicken. How do you ask someone this question? Sure, fried chicken is quite yummy, but I don’t think that I would want to marry it. Actually, I don’t think that I would even want to have fried chicken more than once a week.

When it comes to fried chicken everyone has a preferred recipe, favorite restaurant or grandma’s secret. The biggest part to good fried is getting it crispy. Personally, I like using buttermilk and a double coating (i.e. dip, cover, dip, cover). That combination seems to get a good coating over the pieces of chicken.

Also, another key to delicious fried chicken is making sure that the oil is the right temperature. When oil is too cold, the chicken will absorb all the oil. The chicken will become greasy and no one wants greasy fried chicken.

Over the years, chicken and waffles have come a favorite. The combination of the sweet waffle with maple syrup and the juicy, crunchy fried chicken is quite satisfying. In this National Fried Chicken Day survey, six out of 10 people think that chicken and waffles belong together. Personally, it needs to be the right combination of chicken and waffles. Just like greasy chicken, flaccid waffles and chicken aren’t a winning combination.
