Looking for new beer pairings? Pair these Devils Backbone beers with your favorite Halloween candy for a delicious flavor experience.

Beer pairings don’t have to be for savory dishes. With all the Halloween candy around the house, the adults deserve a sweet treat, too. While candy and wine pairings are a little more common, beer and candy is just as tasty.

Since it is the Halloween season, Devils Backbone has suggested some delicious beer pairings for popular Halloween candies. While candy corn might be the most controversial Halloween candy, these beer and candy combinations are definitely with a sip and a bite.

Candy Corn and Gold Leaf Lager

According to Devils Founding Brewmaster Jason Oliver, candy corn and Gold Leaf Lager are a tasty combination. Candy corn usually has a vanilla flavor that is predominate. That vanilla plays off the bready quality of the Gold Leaf.

Although many people aren’t huge fans of candy corn, Oliver is. He said that he enjoys “stick(ing) them on my teeth making fake teeth to look like a hillbilly.” While I don’t know if everyone will join in this Halloween fun, this beer/candy pairing is definitely worth a sip.

Caramel Chews and Vienna Lager

Caramel always goes well with caramel. According to Devils Backbone Brewer Aaron Reilly, the brand’s Vienna Lager has caramel and toast flavors. These flavors highlight the caramel candy.

Also, the beer has a crisp finish with subtle hoppy notes. These flavors help to keep the balance the beer and candy combination.

Pumpkin Peeps and Trail Angel Weiss

Another controversial Halloween candy (or anytime candy) for this beer pairing. Some people love Peeps, as long as they are fresh. This pairing plays off the marshmallow (actually any marshmallow candy will work) and the Devils Backbone beer.

According to Devils Backbone Brewmaster Josh French, this beer pairing works because the sugar covered marshmallow sweetness is balanced by the bitterness of the hops in the Trail Angel Weiss. Also bubble gum and clove flavors pair well with marshmallow.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Schwartz Bier Black Lager

Is there any better Halloween candy than Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups? If you can sneak away any of these candies from the kids’ candy bags, this beer pairing is definitely worth trying.

This candy and beer pairing works because the roasted cocoa and coffee notes from the beer complement the chocolate and peanut butter. Don’t be afraid of the Black Lager. The beer has a light body. This combination is absolutely delightful.
