Holidays came early, Aldi’s Wine Advent Calendar is amazing
Were you one of the lucky ones to get Aldi’s Wine Advent Calendar? Early this morning, I camped out at my local Aldi to grab this holiday treat.
Aldi’s Wine Advent Calendar hit store shelves today. While many people love ALDI wine (and Aldi itself), this special holiday offering was hotly anticipated. Those 24 mini bottles of vino had finally made their way to US store shelves. Depending on your Aldi location, a few calendars were gone within minutes.
If you hadn’t heard, this wine calendar features one small bottle of wine for 24 days. While some people grew up opening advent calendars to little pieces of chocolate, this version is just for adults. It could make your holidays a little more festive.
This calendar designed to a special treat a day, but you don’t have to follow those rules (Santa is watching, though). It could be a fun conversation starter at a holiday party, but you have to be willing to share your special holiday treat.

Since I was able to purchase this calendar today, here are a couple of interesting facts about it. First, there are 12 types of wine; each wine has a pair within the calendar, i.e. two chardonnay, Malbec, etc. The calendar does offer a wide variety of wines.
From whites to reds and South African to Italian, there is a nice variety. I do question the white zinfandel inclusion. Why didn’t they include rosé? That wine would have been a much better choice. The prosecco was a nice touch. Everyone always likes some bubbles during the holidays.
Second, the cost per bottle is a steal. The calendar retails for $69.99. Each bottle is 6.37 ounces, so that’s under $3 a bottle. Even if you aren’t a huge fan of one of the wines, this wine calendar is definitely worth the cost.
The variety in this calendar could have people discover a wine that they don’t normally drink. While some people would balk at paying $10 on a wine that isn’t their favorite, these smaller sizes allow people to experiment. Maybe I will even find a reason to rediscover white zinfandel.
Lastly, if you didn’t already get your wine calendar, your local Aldi store might already be sold out. At my local store, there were only a handful of calendars available. I saw five sold within the first few minutes.
There was the one per customer purchase limit, too. Also, Aldi will not be replenishing supplies. Once these calendars are gone, you will have to wait till next year.
If you didn’t score a wine calendar, Aldi did offer cheese advent calendars, too. These calendars might be a little more plentiful on store shelves. Unfortunately, my local Aldi hadn’t received their shipment, yet. I will have to check back for this piece of holiday joy.
