In Top Chef Season 16 episode 8, the chefs might think that this challenge is going to be a party, but the reality of cooking on a boat isn’t fun and games.

Top Chef Season 16 episode 8 takes on an interesting challenge. The chefs must prepare a party style feast using the kitchen on a houseboat. Can these professional chefs find a way to cook elevated party food in such cramped corners?

According to Bravo, this week’s episode synopsis states:

"With more shoreline than Florida, Kentucky is a hotbed for houseboats. For this elimination challenge, the chefs are split into two teams and tasked with throwing raging party in Lake Cumberland. Mega-chef Emeril Lagasse joins Padma, Tom and Nilou along with Captains Sandy and Lee from Below Deck for some houseboat hysteria."

This synopsis sets the tone for the episode. Houseboat parties are fun, but the space is limited. With so many chefs in such a cramped kitchen, the chefs will be to be organized to excel in this challenge.

Also, the chefs will need to menu plan wisely. A dish with 20 steps and tweezer plating isn’t going to work in this setting. The team that understand the concept of the challenge best will win.

Lastly, it is nice to see Emeril Lagasse back on Top Chef. One of the original food television chef personalities is an icon. It will be interesting to hear his critiques. The chefs better step up their game.

Bravo also shared the following video clip from tonight’s episode on its website. This video clip is quite telling. First, a power outage is a disaster. If the chefs don’t have power, their dishes will be a failure. While there is probably some twist headed their way, this hiccup could put the chefs in a frenzy.

More interesting in this video clip is the reference to some of the chef’s dishes. Michelle’s play on French Onion dip and chips sounds amazing. Hopefully, she can pull off this dish in the galley kitchen.

Also, Eddie has a point about party food on a stick. Who can resist food on a stick? As long as this dish is executed well, Eddie should be safe.

Which team will be the life of the party and which team will need a life preserver? Another chef will be sent to Last Chance Kitchen. Who will it be?
