As Universal Orlando gets an eerie glow, the Skeleton Bar welcomes guests with culinary treats.

While the pumpkins might not be hanging from the trees, the Skeleton Bar at Universal Orlando offers a taste of a ghostly treat for theme park guests. After walking through the doors of the transformed Café La Bamba, guests are greeted with some spicy and sweet options. Don’t worry, some cocktails are waiting to tame the flames.

The menu at the Skeleton Bar offers a nice selection of smaller bites. From a classic shrimp cocktail to a plant based mac and cheese, the variety is good.

Many people will make a stop specifically for the s’mores fries. While pizza fries are the iconic Halloween Horror Nights meal, this sweeter version could conjure up a classic campfire scene. Although no one should ever venture into the forest alone, you might not want to share this plate with friends. Yes, the s’mores fries are that good.

If you prefer a little spice, the perfect menu combination is the Mango Inferno cocktail with Bloody Charred Tandoori Skewer. The curry chicken skewer is served on some bright, crunchy radish slaw.

This curry is not overly spicy, but it brings just the right layers of flavors. Served with pineapple tamarind sauce, it is one of those dishes that you wish was a full plate.

Pairing it with the Mango Inferno cocktail is a must. It is a tequila cocktail that has similarities to a margarita. The blanco tequila is mixed with a mango juice and lime juice.

The cocktail’s kick comes from yellow curry powder. While many people have had jalapenos or other peppers in a tequila cocktail, this curry flavor brings a slow burn to each sip. Although the first taste leaves a mark, by the end of the cocktail you have embraced the flames.

The pairing of the dish and the cocktail works. The play on tropical flavors with the two curries are flavorful but not overpowering. In some ways, it is a perfectly balanced bite.

In addition to the Mango Inferno, the Skeleton Bar offers a Lou-Garou, a type of rum punch, and Circus Peanut. The Circus Peanut cocktail is probably the most talked about cocktail of the three. If you love peanut butter whiskey, you should definitely try it. Don’t let the candy reference steer you away.

And, if you prefer not to imbibe, there are several fun non-alcoholic beverages. The Frozen Candy Corn drink is back. Everyone has to have at least some candy corn around Halloween, right?

Lastly, the little patio to the right of the Skeleton Bar is a great place to enjoy your cocktail and food. Sit by the bubbly fountain and enjoy a great view. From periodic performances by characters to the water fountains show in the main lagoon, it is a delightful spot to enjoy a break during the day.

The Skeleton Bar is located inside Universal Studios Orlando. Check with the theme park for operating hours.

Universal Orlando does have safety and social distancing measures in place. Please check with its website for all health and safety parameters.
