When does a Dairy Queen Blizzard taste even better? On Miracle Treat Day, eating your favorite DQ Blizzard is both tasty and helps charity.

Dairy Queen just announced its annual Miracle Treat Day. On August 2, the 13th annual Miracle Treat Day will be celebrated across the nation. At participating DQ Grill & Chill® and Dairy Queen locations throughout the U.S., the company will be raising funds and awareness for the Children’s Miracle Network.

"“We want to make Miracle Treat Day the most fun, most meaningful day of summer. The kids at children’s hospitals across America are depending on us,” said Maria Hokanson, executive vice president of marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). “Miracle Treat Day is a celebration of how our communities come together to help the kids treated by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals so that they can be at home with their family, having fun and playing with their friends as soon as possible.”"

While many people head to DQ just for the frozen treat, the program has raised more than $135 million for the charity through various programming. It is inspiring that a Blizzard can be more than just that sweet treat on a hot summer day. Even though some people go just for the deal, that deal can be the spark that leads to something more.

On the Miracle Treat Day, the featured Blizzard is Oreo. Oreo is considered the most popular version of this frozen treat. Even though the classic Oreo is the favorite, that flavor has had various upgrades over the years. Recently, Oreo got a Star Spangled upgrade with popping candy. Also, the Royal version has a fudge center.

It is interesting that DQ hasn’t incorporated the many crazy flavored Oreos into its classic frozen treat. Maybe a refreshing pina colada Oreo or a chocolate peanut butter pie version would be a tasty change of pace.

Of course, an Oreo Blizzard isn’t the only frozen treat available on Miracle Treat Day. Another option is The TWIX Blizzard Treat, August’s featured flavor. Also, the special Summer Blizzard Menu is still available, too.
